The Atlas Lions of Morocco have inked their names in the history books of the FIFA World Cup as the first African country to make the semi-finals following their slim 1-0 victory over Portugal in the quarter finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Ounahi dazzles through the Portuguese midfield

The North African side defeated European heavyweights Portugal by a lone goal courtesy  Youssif En Nesyri.
The Sevilla forward rose high to jump in from Yahia Atiyat Allah’s cross from the left wing in the 42nd minute, beating Portugal’s goalkeeper  Diego Costa.

Morocco held on to their 1-0 lead to the second half in quest of getting another goal in addition.
Portuguese manager Fernando Santos had to bring on their star man, Cristiano Ronaldo to help salvage a point but all effort proved futile.
Morocco were later reduced to ten men as substitute Walid Cheddira was sent off after picking his second yellow card.

The Atlas Lions will be playing the winner of the France and England clash in the semi-finals as Argentina takes on Croatia.
