Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal beat Aston Villa at the Villa Park in a thrilling encounter.

The Gunners were on the back of a three game winless streak (defeat to Everton, a draw with Brentford and losing to Man City ) coming into this game.

Arsenal had a shocking start to the game as they were behind in the 6th minute as Ollie Watkins shot past Aaron Ramsdale.

Bukayo Saka leveled for Arsenal 10 minutes later but Phillipe Coutinho put Villa back in front in the 31st minute to secure Villa’s lead going into the break.

In the second half, Arsenal showed more hunger and desire to win and were rewarded with the equaliser through Zinchenko via a short corner.

The game changing moment came when Jorginho shot a thunderbolt which hit the crossbar and deflected off Aston Villa goalkeeper, Martinez’s head to take Arsenal into the lead for the first time in the game.

Villa had a corner kick in additional time which could level the tie. They threw all their men forward including the goalkeeper which turned out to be a wrong choice as Arsenal hit them on the break to score their 4th through Martinelli.

This win for Arsenal put them 3 points above Manchester City temporarily.
