Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday afternoon defeated Kumasi Asante Kotoko to lift the 2023 President Cup at the Accra sports stadium.
In the absence of Head coach Slavko Matic, David Ocloo stood in the gap and led the Phobians to record a slim 1-0 victory over the Porcupines warriors in a clash that served as matchday 20 of the betPawa Premier league and also the President cup.
Asante Kotoko had the opportunity to go ahead in the early minutes of the game but chance was squandered as Mukwala’s effort went wayward.
The visitors again came close to breaking the deadlocks as Richmond Lamptey’s left footed strike missed by a litle margin.
Both sides kept knocking for a goal before the break but all efforts proved futile as the first half ended in a goalless draw.
Back from recess, both sides resumed with the edge to grab the opener.

The defender headed home from Linda’s setpiece when Amankwah Baafi was brought down at the edge of the box to give the Phobians a deserved lead.
The porcupine warriors kept knocking for thr equaliser but all chances were missed as Mukwala’s 66th minute effort was denied by Konadu Yiadom.
The game ended in a 1-0 victory for the Phobians who haven’t won a game since their 3-1 victory over Berekum Chelsea weeks ago.
