Black Meteors coach Ibrahim Tanko is confident ahead of the team’s encounter against Guinea in their final group match of the U-23 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).

He asserted that the players are mentally and physically ready for the forthcoming game, exhibiting determination to secure a victory.

“We are well psyched mentally and physically to win the game. We had a good training session yesterday and the boys showed me in training that they are ready for a win,” Tanko said in the pre-match press conference.

The former Black Stars assistant coach acknowledged the team’s evaluation of their previous match and their efforts to rectify any shortcomings.

‘’We have watched the last game again and have worked on correcting what went wrong.’’ He added

Ghana suffered a 5-1 defeat against Morocco in their second game of the tournament.

Despite this setback, Tanko emphasized the importance of moving forward, stating, ‘’we have to put it behind us and I think the team is ready for the game.’’

Ghana requires a victory against Guinea to progress to the semi-finals of the competition as they aim to even go further to make the top three and qualify for Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

Guinea, on the other hand, will strive for a draw to secure their spot in the next round, leading Ghana in terms of goal differences.

In regards to the team’s fitness, Ibrahim Tanko assured “We have no injury so far. We’ve had two days of rest and we made good use of it. I am sure everyone will be ready for the game’’

The upcoming match promises an intense battle as both teams vie for progression in the tournament. The match is scheduled for 20:00GMT on Friday at the Grand Stade Tanger in Morocco.
