Following a goalless draw with Hearts of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday night, Prosper Ogum, the head coach of Asante Kotoko, shared his post-match reflections, displaying a sense of optimism and confidence in his team.

The 45-year-old coach commended the team’s defensive prowess, praising their compactness and their seamless transitions from defence to attack.

“We played well defensively. We looked very compact. We were able to progress from defence to the midfield to attack, which was good. This is our first game. I think as time goes on, we will find our rhythm. It was a good game for me.’’ Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum said after the game

He expressed satisfaction with the mix of experienced and new players embracing the team’s game model.

‘’I am satisfied because we have a blend of new and old players trying to get the game model going. So, to me, what I saw today is good of individual players, but we can do better. I am okay with it. I do not have any doubt about this team.’’ He stated

Prosper Ogum believes that as the league advances, their performance in both offense and defence will improve, resulting in more opportunities and victories.

The former WAFA coach also shed light on the selection process for future games, indicating that it would be influenced by training outcomes and the tactical approach of their opponents.

‘’The selection of players for games will be dependent on what happens at training and then the tactical approach of the opponent. The way they are coming to play, based on the tactical intelligence we gather from the opponent, and then your performances at training will determine whom to select and which system or style to play.” He added

Asante Kotoko aims to secure a win in their next match against Bibiani Gold Stars on September 23 at Duns Park.
