Atletico Madrid has agreed to pay up to €95 million for Manchester City’s striker Julian Alvarez.
Subject to personal terms, he will move to Spain this summer, in what will be the Premier League club’s most expensive transfer.
On Monday, There were reports that the two clubs were negotiating the final price and payment structure for a deal that would end the 24-year-old forward’s two-and-a-half-year stay in Manchester.
The versatile forward signed for the Premier League club from River Plate in January 2022 for €17 million (£14 million), and his contract was extended in March until 2028.
He will be Atletico’s third summer signing, following the acquisitions of Robin Le Normand from Real Sociedad and Alexander Sorloth from Villarreal.
The La Liga club is also interested in Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher, who recently rejected two new contract offers.
Alvarez played 54 games for City across all competitions last season, scoring 19 goals and assisting 13 times.
He assisted Pep Guardiola’s team in winning the Premier League, Champions League, and FA Cup in 2022-23, making City only the second English team in history to achieve the treble.

Alvarez competed for Argentina in the men’s soccer tournament at the Paris Olympics, scoring two assists to help the team advance to the quarterfinals before being defeated by host France.
