Bibiani Goldstars Striker Abednego Teeth has revealed that he is yet to receive an award from the Ghana Football Association for winning the goal king in the Ghana Premier League (GPL) last season.
He disclosed this in an interview on Mass TV.
The 32 year-old striker scored 16 goals in 19 matches to become the top scorer in the Ghana premier league last season.
According to the Bibiani Goldstars Striker, he has not been contacted by any Ghana Football Association (GFA) official with regards to his accomplishment.
Abednego also mentioned that he is yet to receive his award for being named the Player of the Month for May/June, which was announced by the GFA. As part of the prize, players who win the Player of the Month award are awarded a 43-inch television set.
’For now I have not received it [the award]. No one has contacted me to tell me anything about it’’ Abednego told Mass Tv
The former Hearts of Oak player expressed his discontent with the fact that players who participated in the recent Division 2 Middle League received awards from the Ghana Football Association, whereas the same recognition was not given to players in the Ghana Premier League. Abednego believes that hard work should be rewarded, as is customary in football worldwide, and he feels let down by the lack of acknowledgement and appreciation for his achievements.
’No one from the FA has even called to congratulate me. For me, it hurts me because we are all working when you hard work you get rewarded and that’s how it is done in football all over the world’’ He stated
The Ghana Premier League 2023/2024 season is set to commence on September 20, 2023.
