The 19th edition of the African Cycling Championship has finally ended in Accra, Ghana after days of fun-packed actions that drew top African countries such as Algeria, Angola, Benin, Botswana, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Egypt, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Lesotho, Ghana, Guinea, Ivory Coast, Namibia, Nigeria, Mauritius, Morocco, Rwanda, among others to compete for the ultimate.
Eritrean cyclist Henok Mulueberhan came first in the Men Elite Road Division with a distance of 132km over 11laps in a time of 3,04,27 to secure Gold medal.
Henok, who won in Rwanda last year, defied all odds to emerge as the ultimate winner in the 2023 cycling championship held in Ghana.
The 23year old defending African champion beat Hamza Yacine of Algeria and Morroccan Achraf El Dugmy who came second and third respectively out of 84 riders.
The 19th edition of the African Cycling Championship was organised under the auspices of Union Cycliste International, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the Ghana Cycling Federation, the National Sports Authority and the Ghana Olympic Committee. This is serving as a qualification phase for the upcoming Africa Games and 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, France.
