Kumasi Asante Kotoko have taken a giant step in the CAF Champions league preliminary round following a slender 1-0 win over Burkinabe side Rail Club de Kadiogo at the General Kerekou Stadium in Cotonou.
The Porcupines dominated play in the first half against the Burkinabe’s with several chances created, but failed to make them count for Seydou Zerbo’s side.
However, Isaac Oppong produced a brilliant stoppage-time winner against Rail Club de Kadiogo to give the Porcupines a rare moment of joy after so many chances blown off wide.
The young attacker popularly known as “Sunyani Neymar” scored two minutes into stoppage time, weaving his way through the Burkinabe defense to slot home with his left foot and secure the all-important 1-0 win.
The slender win hands Ghana’s representatives in the CAF Champions league a slight advantage heading into the reverse fixture scheduled to be played on Sunday September 18, 2022 at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
The results also means, new Gaffer Seydou Zerbo registers a first win and clean sheet for the porcupines since taking charge over Prosper Narteh Ogum.
The Porcupines are expected to arrive in Ghana on Tuesday to begin preparations for the second leg clash.
