The Barea of Madagascar shocked the Black Galaxies of Ghana with a 2-1 victory in the second group C game.
The debutants broke the deadlock of the game as early as the 11th minute through Koloina Razafindranaivo who pounced on a loose ball in the 18yard box and sent past goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim.
Tsiry Randriantsiferana added the second in the 61st minute to hand Madagascar an important victory in their first ever appearance in the CHAN championship.
Substitute Augustine Agyapong scored a screamer in the 67th minute to give hope to the West African side.
They however failed to get the needed equaliser as countless goalscoring opportunities went wasted.
Ghana will now turn attention to a must-win tie with Sudan who won all three points against Morocco who failed to show up for the championship.
