Dreams FC, the reigning champions of the Ghana FA Cup, have made a significant decision regarding their participation in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup.
The General Manager of Dreams FC, Mohammed Ameenu Shardow has confirmed that they have chosen the Accra Sports Stadium as the venue for their home matches during the 2023/24 CAF Confederation Cup.
The decision to change their home stadium comes as a result of the inadequate infrastructure at their regular ground, Dawu Park. Recognizing the importance of playing in a venue that meets CAF’s standards, the club explored alternative options and ultimately settled on the Accra Sports Stadium.
Shardow who also doubles as the Black stars team manager explained that when the Confederation of African Football (CAF) conducted their inspection, they identified certain venues deemed suitable for hosting CAF competitions. .
‘’When CAF came for the inspection, they chose certain venues that are suitable for CAF competitions. According to the regulations, during the preliminary round of the competition, the rules are flexible. They tighten it when you progress to the group stages. For now, we have identified the Accra Sports Stadium as the venue for our Africa campaign,” Ameenu Shardow told Kessben FM.
It is important to note that as Dreams FC progresses in the CAF Confederation Cup, they may need to assess the continued suitability of the Accra Sports Stadium or consider alternative venues that meet evolving CAF requirements.
