Brazilian International, Casemiro scored the opener for Erik ten Hag’s side in the 33rd minute when he rose high to head home from Luke Shaw’s set-piece.
Manchester United doubled their lead before the break via a Sven Botman own goal.
The last time the club won a trophy was under Portuguese trainer Jose Felix Mourinho when they beat Leicester City by 2-1 to clinch the community shield cup. They also won the EFL cup, beating southampton by 3-2 and topped it in Europe by beating Ajax Amsterdam for the UEFA EUROPA LEAGUE trophy all in the 2017 season.
Manchester United are now 6 times Champions of the EFL cup behind Liverpool with 9 and Manchester City with 8.
