Former Black Stars coach and player Kwesi Appiah has been announced as the new head coach of Sudan by the Sudanese FA.
According to multiple reports, he has agreed to serve the Sudanese national team on a three-year deal.
Between 2007 and 2012, James Kwesi Appiah served as Ghana’s assistant coach. When Ghana U23 won the 2011 All-Africa Games, Appiah was their coach. He described himself as “the underdog” when he was chosen to lead the Ghanaian national team in April 2012.
He also managed to take the Black Stars to the FIFA world cup in Brazil in 2014 although the team could not make it past the group stage.
Kwesi Appiah has also served in Sudan before although it was not with the National team.
He was the coach of Khartoum Club from December 2014 to April 2017 and led to the CAF Confederations Cup before his second spell as coach of the Black Stars.
It’s understood that Kwesi Appiah was recently appointed as a member of Asante Kotoko’s interim management Committee as the technical head and also in charge of player recruitment for the 2023/24 season and will like to finalize things with the porcupine warriors before taking up his new role.
