Accra Lions secured a historic win over Hearts of Oak with a 1-0 scoreline on matchday 28 of the Ghana Premier League.

Ibrahim Issah’s second-half strike was enough as Accra Lions registered their first ever victory over the former Ghana premier league champions at the Accra sports stadium

Accra Hearts of Oak had the chance to go upfront in the early minutes of the game but efforts from Linda Mtage and Salim Adams failed to materialize.

Accra Lions quickly bounced back to take charge of the game with lots of attack from both flanks.
Coach Ibrahim Tanko’s side were denied a penalty after Daniel Awuni’s cross hit the hand of a Hearts of Oak in the box just few minutes before the first half break.

Ibrahim Issa finally made it count with a brilliant finish in the 57th minute to give Accra Lions a deserved lead.
After the opener, Blessing Asuman, Awuni, Amponsah and Yahaya all came close to doubling the lead for the visitors but all efforts were denied by the Hearts of Oak defense.

The defeat pushes Accra Hearts of Oak down to the 12th position with just 4points above the relegation zone.
Coach Ouatara’s side will take on Berekum Chelsea in their next league game while Accra Lions welcomes Aduana Stars on matchday 29.
