The Black Stars Opened their Qatar World Cup journey account with 1-0 victory over a well composed Ethiopian side.

The Stars had to wait till the middle of the first half (35min) when Mubarak Wakaso’s shot found it way into the net after Goalkeeper Teklemariam Shanko Balcha failed to save the ball. Wakaso was booked in the 53rd minutes and later taken off on the 70th minute mark.
Crystal Palace’s Jeffrey Schlupp was stretched off on the 25th minute after pulling a strain and was replaced with Daniel Okyere who was making his maiden appearance.
