The general secretary of the Ghana football association, Prosper Harrison Addo has called on government, private and public institutions for support for Ghanaian clubs participating in Africa next season.
According to Mr Harrison, for Ghanaian clubs to be able to compete with the big clubs on the continental stage, they would need to be financially strong and this can be achieved with support from the government and some other corporate bodies.
“We can compete with the clubs in Africa, such as Al Ahly, RS Berkane and others but our problem here is the financial difference”, he told Akoma FM.
“The GFA has always supported the clubs participating in African competitions and will do so for Kotoko this year. The GFA backs the call of Asante kotoko for government support to participate in Africa this year.”
“We will appeal for support not only from the government, but also the public and private institutions to help the clubs in participating in Africa since playing there is very expensive.
The FA will also provide the little support we can because, if they are to go far, it increases our slots.”
Kumasi Asante Kotoko and the winner of the 2021/2022 MTN FA Cup final(Bechem United/Hearts of Oak) will be representing Ghana in the CAF Champions league and the Confederations Cup next season.
