Swedish giants Malmo FF have announced the signing of Ghanaian youngster Banabas Tagoe on a three year deal.

Banabas who is a son of former Hearts of Oak midfielder Joe Tagoe(Bobby Short) will be having his first stint in Europe after impressing the technical bench of the Swedish side during his trials.
The 19year old has been with the club for some months where he played for the U19 and U21 side against Varberg’s BoIS.

The technical director of the club, Andreas Georgson spoke to the club’s official website about the discovery of the Ghanaian youngster.

” Early last spring we were on site down in Ghana and visited a scouting event. There we saw a quick player who was very skilled with the ball.”

“Banabas has continued to impress us during his trial. In addition to being technical and good at knocking out his opponent, he is also very wise, and has a great desire to learn. He will train with P19 during the fall, after which we will evaluate and make a new decision for the future. It will be exciting and follow Banaba’s development.”

The youngster also revealed his admiration for the move and his eagerness to make an impact.

“It’s the first time I’m playing in Europe and to be able to come to such a big club like Malmö FF feels very good. I see it as a great opportunity to come here and learn as much as possible and grow as a player.”

Banabas played for Accra based lower tier side Accra Sporting before sealing the move overseas.
