Accra Hearts of Oak captain Fatawu Mohammed has blamed the condition of the Accra Sports stadium pitch when they shared the spoils with Bechem United over the weekend.

The Phobians played out a goaless draw with the Hunters at the Accra Sports Stadium in matchday 11 after picking up six points in their last two games at Cape Coast Stadium.

The Rainbow Boys were hopeless to secure all three points in what was a matchday 11 match in the 2021/22 Ghanaian top-flight league to catch up with the top four teams.

Bechem United proved to be a difficult nut to crack in a mouthwatering clash.

Speaking after the game, Fatawu highlighted on the fact the pitch condtion was so poor and served as deter for their gameplay.

“The pitch was really in a bad condition and affected our style of play, some of the new boys found it difficult to cope with the condtion because of it was the first time some of them have played at the Accra sports stadium, so sometimes it was very very difficult for them to adapt. But for football, here is our home grounds so we have no excuses to give because whatever the situation this is where will play all our (home) matches.

Both teams had several opportunities to win the game but their chances all got but wasted.

Not bad but it’s a little bit heavy so sometimes if you don’t kick the ball harder it it stalls in while in motion. The little I will say is if the authorities can cut (the grass) down a little bit for us it will be helpful”, he pleaded.

Hearts Of Oak sit 9th on the league log with 14 points with two outstanding games to be played.
